Welcome, fellow creative misfit,
This newsletter is a place where neurodivergent artists like you and me can connect as we navigate and embrace every imperfect part of the creative process. I write indiscriminately about creativity. That means I seek to normalize the messy, nonlinear, and sometimes scary experience of trekking through these dark woods, while also offering a guiding lantern through it.
Together, we will explore some of life’s big questions, share encouragement and transparency around the challenges of creativity, and offer the frequent permission we need to be our weird little selves.
My hope is that you feel supported in finding strategies that work with your unique system and empowered to find continual re-alignment with your inner sun—that small and furious joy within you, the source of all your bright creative power.
"Though she be but little, she is fierce.”

What You Can Expect
Blog Posts — philosophical reflections, artful meaning-making, practical ideas for moving through fear and getting unblocked, and helpful advice on tending to diverse nervous system needs.
Creative Workshops — news about upcoming opportunities to learn, play, experiment and be in connection with others in a co-creative and supportive space.
Resources & Tidbits — a helpful resource of the month, a mini divinatory reading or synchronicity, a personal window into my own process, or whatever other fun extras I’m feeling tickled by that day.
Coaching — opportunities for individualized support for moving through creative blocks, embracing questions, exploring possibilities, and daring passionately.
Community — not the kind that overstimulates and exhausts you, but one that is built for the level of depth you require to experience genuine connection in group settings. Eventually, I’d like to turn this space into a tight-knit community of neurodivergent creative misfits.

About Your Fellow Misfit
I’m Cat! (she/her/honestly whatever)
I am a creative facilitator, writer, and editor based in Asheville, NC. I have always been a misfit: deeply creative, highly sensitive, queer, autistic, and an all-around weirdo. I often struggled to fit myself into the “default boxes” that culture and society proffer upon us, until one day, I realized that the box should fit the human and not the other way around. Small Fury Creative is my way of creating my own box: custom-made for me to contain and put forth all that I have to offer you.
I believe that the world moves toward a more loving future every time a single person:
breaks free from those default boxes,
embraces who they are,
and empowers what they are here to create.
So that’s what I’m here to do: to embolden creatives like you to resist those patriarchal systems by re-wilding in your authentic inner voice. Small and furious, that quiet power within you has something important to create that the world needs.

Who Are You?
I’d love to get to know you, too. If you are a sucker for deep one-on-one conversations like me, then feel free to hit reply and share your thoughts, ideas, or positive feedback anytime. Let’s find connection in one another on this wild creative journey.
I’m especially interested in supporting feminine fiction writers and sensitive creatives whose brains need to play by their own rules. If you self-identify as female, feminine/effeminate, sensitive or neurodivergent, then you belong here. If your creative process is rhythmic, wandering, fastidious, hyper-focused, intense, or otherwise utterly your own, then you may already consider yourself a Creative Misfit.
One of us! One of us! One of us!
I’m delighted you’re here.

THANKS FOR BEING HERE AND FOR BEING YOU.
Keep playing,
Cat W. Sommers
